Contemporary Garden
The owners of this garden near Glasgow wanted their garden brought up to date to tie in with a contemporary extension to the rear of the house. The existing garden was quite heavily planted with a small patch of grass.
The garden is based on a bold design framework with a central circular lawn. Surrounding the lawn is a black limestone arc with a curved hardwood and steel bench.
A rendered wall with a built in water feature is the focal point from the house. Slatted hardwood screens introduce some contrast and at the same time frame the focal area.
A children’s area is screened off from the rest of the garden by a raised rendered planter planted with stipa gigantia and a slatted hardwood screen to the driveway side.
On the opposite side gravel paths and planting lead to a quiet semi secluded corner.
The client of this garden had very clear ideas about the planting style. Planting in this garden has been streamlined to reflect the design. A limited colour pallet of lilacs and whites have been used which illuminate the garden.
